Nicktoon/Animation Study with Third Graders

I did a little study with the third grade class I was helping out with the other day.

First, I asked them what they thought of the current Nicktoons.

SpongeBob Squarepants and The Fairly OddParents got extremely positive reception amongst the kids (though they actually seem to prefer FOP)

What she says: I'm fine
What she means: why is Treasure Planet so underrated. Does nobody appreciate the concept of pirates in space. All the steampunk is beautiful and the animation is amazing and the storyline is wonderful and it has a relatable loveable rogue character and doesn't rely on romance to be a good movie why isn't anyone talking about this movie.

I can’t tell if Tumblr’s love for Shrek is ironic or not because on one hand it has pretty decent animation, fairly witty dialogue, a few of its own cheesy moments and hamfisted pop culture references but a solid movie series over all

But on the other hand the dragon fucks the donkey and I don’t know how anyone is supposed to feel about that

Ugh I’m so upset with Netflix. The first day I found out they’re taking The X-Files off on April 1st the next day I find out the next day Bob’s Burgers is getting taken off April 17th and now I find out Soul Eater isn’t even on there anymore and that’s my favorite anime. Like wtf.

I blame the government. They don’t want people watching the X-Files because they got too close to the truth.
